Tim Hollis writes GREAT books! I highly recommend _Dixie Before Disney_, about all kinds of roadside tourist traps throughout the American South before Disney opened up their theme parks in Orlando, Florida. (Stuckey's has an entire chapter by itself.) Also recommend _Hi There, Boys and Girls!_, about live children's TV show hosts back in the '50s and '60s, all across America.
