I have a Ridgid TS3650 also and like it very much. Since I share my work space with the good family vehicle the Herc-U-Lift is great. If you don't want to make your zero clearance inserts they are readily available. -- Mike Watch for the bounce. If ya didn't see it, ya didn't feel it. If ya see it, it didn't go off. Okay ya busted me I own a Skil Lithium Ion compact driver, wasn't sure how to spell lithium so I left it off. I usually don't use it for that type of job, I doubt it would have driven the screws without the tapered bit. -- Mike Watch for the bounce. If ya didn't see it, ya didn't feel it. I'm not sure who posted the advice (I think it was Leon) about Tapered Bits for drilling pilot holes. I bought a set from Woodcraft (sorry no gloat paid full price) and used them yesterday on a tool stand I'm making. They worked very well, drilling the pilot hole and the countersink in one shot sure is nice. Plus I was able to use my compact ion driver, even with 1-3/4" #8 woodscrews. So

Now if it was something I planned on keeping forever I'd not use it, but for all the years I spent moving around in the Air Force Sauder makes a good product. That is qualified by the fact expecting government paid movers to treat your quality wood furniture with respect is like believing in the Easter Bunny. Of the Ready to Assemble Sauder gets high marks. -- Mike Watch for the bounce

Sorry I grouched I was having a lousy day with my arthritis, which can turn me into a crab. I asked the question after I had quit working for the day and was doing the math on a couple of cuts I need to make today and thought I ask here to see if there was a normal procedure used by most. I was planning on cutting a test piece with the info I got here in mind. The plywood is the best grade

Okay I know plywood comes in varied thickness this sheet happens to be 45/64 of an inch. I was planning on cutting the dado at 47/64 to give me a tad of room on each side. The piece will be permanent with cleats below, but yes I'd still like it to look good even if it will only be seen in my garage/shop. DadiOH I do use my head which is why I asked here, I thought there might be a pat
