... doubling the SIMMs in a Solbourne S4000DX, and it worked well for as long as I needed to use the computer. I also used some solder, a very fine gauge solder which I picked up at a hamfest about the time the threat of losing all lead-based solder came out. The iron was an Edsyn "Loner" with regulated temperature at the tip, and quite fine (but not fine enough) tips. Enjoy, DoN.

Wow, you are lucky to have found one at a fest. In 20 years of going to *lots* of hamfests in the NJ/NY area, I never found one. 99.9/10's of my Zenith collection came from Epay when... much the going rate for one in similar condition. I picked up a near mint 1000D for $50 at a hamfest a year ago and have bought several 1000 & 3000 models in average condition for $20-$35 over the last...

It is nice to get a nice rack-mount server machine for $200.00 at a hamfest, because it is now "obsolete". :-) As for the Mac GUI, you can bypass that and use the command line for many things.
