Dear Pamela, Though you are new to SAS I presume you have your data in a SAS dataset already. How are your groups formed? You have to transpose the data such that each child has its own record with the indicated gender. Then you can calculate the average and the minimum using PROC UNIVARIATE or just a data step and determine the associated gender for the minimum from there. But before suggesting
