The yellow tint is from a copper addition, it makes the silver a little tougher, at the cost of looking nice. Personally I like carbon steel (yes I know it can rust, so you need a little more care). Years ago, I purchased a choctaw. ("choctaw" was engraved on the blade) I loved the knife. It had a 440 surgical stainless blade that was quick to sharpen and stayed sharp for quite a while. (made in japan) Nice multi color frostwood handle. Well I lost it, so I purchased another one about 3 months ago. The silver bolsters have a yellow tint to it and the blade is now made in pakistan.
