Here Vista. Roll over... 1) make sure you have the latest video drivers for vista. go to mfr's website and install. All my rendering problems were solved by updating vista video drivers. 2) Check your image in something like IconEditPro http://www.iconedit.com/ (free). 3) Convert to bitmap and back. You're welcome. You are OK with SP2 for now, but there is a cutoff date for further patches. I honestly do not remember when at the moment, but I am sure it is at least a few months in the future. If it were me, I would relax for a few days and when you have the time, give SP3 another shot. Save the installation tips I provided. You can drag that particular post to an OE local folder

Bruce, Thanks for the help - I am back up. Since I had not had any problems with Trendmicro at all before the current issue, I was hesitant to put the blame there. But I checked it out anyway. I first shut off the email scanning (no help) and then disabled it entirely with no joy. So I uninstalled SP3, rebooted and Outlook Express 6 now runs again, even with Trendmicro going. So maybe

Not even close to the other thread with Preview Pane issues. Thank you for starting your own. There are known issues with the latest versions of TrendMicro. Turn off e-mail scanning first and see if that helps. (You may need to remove your AV and reinstall in custom mode, unchecking e-mail scanning when you see that option.
