Hi Carocal, Did you identified the process that is using the CPU? What you can do is: start the system in safe mode with networking. See if you can start McAfee and perform a scan. You might want to download the latest version of Stinger (http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/) and scan your system. I know it is not something you want to hear, but you might want to consider to securely rebuild

Hi, My computer keeps crashing. The processor goes to 100%% usage and it doesn't let me do anything else. I can't update my antivirus (mcafee) it says : Failed to Initialize Updater subsystem. Package: linux-image-2.6.18-3-686 Version: 2.6.18-3 Severity: important After upgrading to 2.6.18 I am no longer able to boot the machine, as the IDE drivers fails to load correctly. If I remember correctly, kernel-image-2.6.11-1-686-smp was the last kernel package that worked on my MicroStar 694D Pro (MS-6321) box.
