During the long an messy effort by Eastern Air Lines to dismiss Ferrie after his morals arrests (1961-3), the company made much of Ferrie's fraudulent claims to academic standing, but close analysis indicates that there may have been at least some basis for his claims. Ferrie had a real BA from Baldwin-Wallace College, but a suspicious Ph.D. from the University of Phoenix at Bari, Italy. He
