If you're heading for the Wizard Course, maybe you should use the airline tickets for a visit to Epcott Center, Disneyland and Universal Studios instead. A week or 10 days might be enough time to see everything worthwhile in Orlando in my opinion. You could book a cheaper hotel that doesn't pay a commission to Star's Edge.
