thank you for all who responded for your hints and clarifications. It's new to me that the cics 2.3 in 4.1 can't use the iui entries but this is what I like in my job. You always learn something new, even on issues where you don't expect it. kind regards Franz Josef Pohlen Jan Canavan schrieb: > With 4.1.1 the IUI works with CICS/TS, so you can't use it with the CICS 2.3. > You will

CICS 2.3 can use the IUI for maintaining passwords. We use it on z/VSE 3.1.2 and used it on VSE/ESA 2.6. You must code a DFHSNT entry for each user. The SNT is used for everything else but the password. It is documented in 'Hints and Tips for VSE-ESA 2.6 and Earlier', chapter 13. If you don't have the H and T I can send it to you or can dust off that part of my brain and help you with it.

Franz, When running CICS/VSE 2.3 in a co-existence mode, CICS/VSE does not use the IUI. The only IUI support is through CICS/TS. However, there was a "Use at your own risk" job put out by IUI Development that would allow you to restore the 'old' IUI into a separate, special sublibrary, and run the IUI on CICS/VSE 2.3 for sign-on and menu purposes. Other system administration tasks would have

With 4.1.1 the IUI works with CICS/TS, so you can't use it with the CICS 2.3. You will have to switch to a SNT gen'ed in the CICS 2.3 area. -----Original Message----- From: "fjpohlen-maillist@gmx.de" <fjpohlen-maillist@gmx.de> Sent: Apr 25, 2008 2:40 AM To: VSE Discussion List <vse-l@Lehigh.EDU> Subject: CSSN problem with CICS 2.3 und zVSE 4.1.1 Hi colleagues, I have a problem

CICS 2.3 don't use the users of the IUI, I don't know about BSTCNTL, I think CESN/CSSN only work with the "old" DFHSNT. Gustavo, same result, when I assemble the old DFHSNT it works with the users defined there. it seems cics 2.3 is not aware of the IUI. Meanwhile I have also defined IESCNTL and BSTCNTL in the fct for testing but same result as before. The files remain closed. I wonder whether it has something to do with the snt parameters userid and opname. On snt the opname is the userid for CSSN/CESN

Try CESN instead of CSSN. On 4/25/08, fjpohlen-maillist@gmx.de <fjpohlen-maillist@gmx.de> wrote: > Hi colleagues, > > I have a problem with cssn on a cics 2.3 under zvse4. Hi colleagues, I have a problem with cssn on a cics 2.3 under zvse4. The login on cicsts runs correctly with or without iui started, but on a cics 2.3 on the same machine I cannot signon. It tells always " DFH3549 11:19:51 YOUR NAME IS UNKNOWN TO CICS. PLEASE RETYPE. " The system starts without any error. I have defined the userids with the IESBLDUP program using the SNT=YES,UPDATE=YES

My dear R. L. Measures The Prophet married Aisha for the benefit of Islam and Humanity and not for lust. Let's analyze... * The Prophet married Aisha primarily for three reasons: o To reinforce the friendly relations already existing with Abu Bakr (his closest companion and best friend). o To educate and train Aisha so she may serve the purposes of Islam.
