I always get the updates as soon as they are available. I think your navigation needs might affect whether it's worth updating. If you just route on major roads, don't mind the occasional outdated intersection, and don't need current POI's, then probably not. However, if you want current POI's, then probably yes. I got CNNA NT 2009 from www.tvnav.com and have been testing it for about

That is really the root of my concern. The NT files are more compressed than the non-NT so I assume some processing time is consumed in decompression. This could potentially slow things, so I was simply asking if such is the case. Thanks for your reply.
