Now I ...

... of the ATCs with whom I worked had pilot licenses and fly "bug smashers". If you want a more flexible and less regimented airspace system then talk to the Govt and their underlings, Airservices, CASA etc but please don't assume that ATC's are the ogres in this situation. If you have a problem with an ATC denial of clearance or service then enquire, once on the ground, as ...

... they have had. I'm not here to support AsA. AA Nor I to be criticised about the association to which I belong, which does its best to represent GA in an environment where ASA is profit and heavy metal driven and - returning to the theme of this thread - CASA does NOT have in its mission statement any requirement to have GA survive and thrive. Spare me! cheers Brian

...it up in his comments 2 minutes after yours. Yes, most start as GA but once they get to airlines there is this culture - I think relatively unique to Oz and a consequence of CASA being initially full of ex MIL rule driven people and ATC wanting to deal with "professionals" in THEIR airspace - that pax are only safe under a regimen that is essentially CTR. The horrible risk ...

..., but as far as I can see the current hullabaloo about user fees in US aviation is all under a completely Republican administration - they would have introduced them without a massive campaign by AOPA, as far as I read on AvWeb. Because the Iraq war is syphoning off too much money, perhaps? ...

... what time the one RPT per day arrives that creates the need for an MBZ and forces me to wake up and temporarily move off the runway. I had hoped the OAM would be under DoTARS but it is now to be under CASA. However, moving airspace decisions out of Airservices which has a conflict of interest in both managing airspace and deciding on changes is at least a start. cheers Brian

... and consideration of issues. As long as there is around 50%% of each, I don't think it is significant if some of those director's were not even pilots. As a comparison, CASA has a strong legal composition and AOPA deals significantly with Airservices - on that basis more lawyers and ATC knowledge in AOPA seem more valuable than someone flying a C172 from A-B 2 ...
