I don't think the sentence pattern is different if the period of time is a week or a year - you are still describing the fact of the situation. This is very imporatant if we are dealing with a limited period of time or unlimited. It is not important weather it is a week or a year the main point is that it is LIMITED. I think you agree that it wouldn't be correct to say I build a new house
