Just keep in mnd that Islam is a BELIEF. You are free to believe what you want so long as your belief does not impose on others. But many people who are in political power and call themselves Muslims do precisely that, they infringe on the rights of those who do not share their belief, hence you have many of today's problems between Mulsims and non-Muslims. Why for instance does Saudi Arabia
