Charlie deleted one Identity's message store. The Identity would still be in the Registry so a new message store will be created. The same thing happens if the message store in on a drive other than C and the drive is not available. You're welcome. You deleted the entire message store by deleting the identity. The long string of letters and numbers is the GUID. General precautions for Outlook Express: Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible. After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually

Am sorry did mean OE.I had a problem deleting emails in inbox and sent and with win explorer I deleted the one big # starting with 6401 without opening to dbx files and OE was completely cleaned out like new with all new default folders.Lost all emails and user folders. Please don't say Outlook when referring to Outlook Express. They are entirely different programs. If you close OE and delete one dbx folder file, other files will be just fine. Will OE create a new file on its own? Only for default folders, Inbox, Sent Items, etc. If it was a user created folder, it will be gone and you will have to create a new folder which in turn will create a new dbx
