Thanks David that is helpful. I have managed to use a resampling scheme written in R and as you say the d= ecrease appears to approximate the inverse of a square-root of the sample s= ize. The steepness of the curve does differ between plots. We have looked= at computing semi-variograms for individual plots to get a sense of the de= gree of spatial autocorrelation for each plot. Or, if you assign the libref of LIBRARY to your format catalog: LibName Library "/abc/xyz/Formats" ; you don't need to set the FMTSEARCH option- LIBRARY is automatically included by SAS in the format search path.
