HI , The sample video render from DirectX 9 SDK Multimedia\DirectShow \Filters\SampVid renders all the files like 1.mpeg 2.wmv 3.mp4 When I connect the sample video render to the powerdvd decoder it gets connected properly,but when i play it I can neither see the video nor I can hear any audio. But when I connect powerdvd to the VMR7 video render through graph edit it starts playing

Raghav, I am in the same situation as you with an old 5100. I upgraded the memory to 1GB a few years back. I was having the heating problem so I took the whole laptop apart and cleaned all the dust out and it helped alot. However I would love to know if there is a newer motherboard I could put in it. I came across this article where they guy puts a P4 2.8GHz upgrade in his 5100 here is the

I've installed i8fangui on a number of Inspiron 5100-series laptops with favorable results. http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/ In effect, you trade off some more fan noise for a much cooler running system. Well worth it. Also, keep the whole area where the fan is spotlessly clean. Accumulated dust and dirt inside the fan vents contributes to overheating. You may need to open up the chassis

Hi, I have this 4.5+ years old Dell Inspiron 5100. The desktop replacement series, has a 2.4GHz processor. Has the oh so visible heating problems and things like that. After a few hours of run, the processor speed comes down (due to heating) to a real low. Then it cant even play a normal dvd movie.
